The athletics season begins in January and ends at the beginning of March.
Coaches will arrange individually with their athletes for pre-season practices.
Athletics is the sport where athletes can get fit for the sports that follow. During the mass meeting, every learner in the school gets the opportunity to participate. Then it is the Interhouse meeting, where the Impalas, Kudus and Springboks compete against each other.
The Larries have an A and B athletics team. Both teams take part in meetings at different schools in the area on Saturdays. It furthers the depth of our athletics.. The Interlaer athletics meeting is a highlight on the calendar and several schools get turns to play host for this meeting. Tzaneen Primary School hosted the prestigious event in 2022, nine of the Letaba region’s schools participated.
Athletes who achieve a first and second place further participate in the Circuit meeting, which can then participate in the Cluster meeting, as well as the Mopani Championships. After that, the first 3 athletes will participate in the Limpopo championships, where they can qualify to take part in the South African championships.

Three of our athletes qualified for the 2024 SA Schools championships, which were held from 24 to 26 March in Polokwane at the Oscar Mpetha Stadium. Kaleigh Henning, girls’ u10, participated in the high jump; Ané Thiart, girls’ u11, participated in the shot put; and Amelie Vosloo, girls’ u11, participated in the long jump.
