LARRIELAND’S POM-POM POPS
The Gr R girls from Tzaneen Primary School’s Larrieland Campus kicked off 2022 with a brand new tradition!
They boast a group of cheerleaders who ensure great excitement.
The Pom-Pom Pops (as they are now known) have been practicing since the beginning of February 2022 under the guidance of Ms. Marga Smith (Gr R teacher) and Me. Dolea Sibuyi (Gr R teaching assistant).
This is the initiative of the principal, Mr Willes Steenkamp, who dreams up big dreams for Larrieland’s Gr R’s.
The little girls are regularly spoiled and encouraged with ice cream and other treats, because being part of the Pom-Pom Pops requires hard work and a lot of perseverance.
This activity, which is seen as a team sport, cultivates quite a few important skills in the girls, including teamwork, discipline and body coordination.
They are taught not to just give up when they get tired and everyone comes to practice twice a week in the afternoons at Larrieland.
Residents in and around Tzaneen can look forward to seeing the Pom-Pom Pops in action regularly because no sporting event should be without a group of cheerleaders!
